Today I started the (fun) task of editing a completely ridiculous video my department is doing for the company meeting in August. Needless to say, I now know more about “The Jersey Shore” than any woman should. I have enjoyed every minute of this and the fact it takes my mind off eye-crossing, mind-numbing web site quality assurance is awesome! If my site doesn’t launch tomorrow, I’m going to cry! Come on Paris, come on DNS switch.
In spite of the fact that I’m enjoying editing, I’m also becoming very frustrated. Instead of having a REAL editing system, I’m working on some POS free download. Great for photo montages, not so much for what I want to do. Oh well, hopefully I won’t be judged too harshly (and she said she used to do this for a living). Well, I never said I was good at it, average on a good day. Take that.
I also find involuntary memory amazing. While I haven’t editing for a few years, my body/hands keep trying to do keyboard shortcuts of old. No such luck sister. You actually have to use your mouse, ha. Really, you can’t cut a clip with the X.
All this said, I’m really enjoying my new job and I’m so very happy I made the decision to switch. I’ve learned more about digital in the last two months, can you say uber technical, than I ever did before. I’ve also started working on a full social strategy for my client. This is a big deal and if it works we will be making a huge impact on the success of the product. I’m excited!
