Today I started the (fun) task of editing a completely ridiculous video my department is doing for the company meeting in August. Needless to say, I now know more about “The Jersey Shore” than any woman should. I have enjoyed every minute of this and the fact it takes my mind off eye-crossing, mind-numbing web site quality assurance is awesome! If my site doesn’t launch tomorrow, I’m going to cry! Come on Paris, come on DNS switch.

In spite of the fact that I’m enjoying editing, I’m also becoming very frustrated. Instead of having a REAL editing system, I’m working on some POS free download. Great for photo montages, not so much for what I want to do. Oh well, hopefully I won’t be judged too harshly (and she said she used to do this for a living). Well, I never said I was good at it, average on a good day. Take that.

I also find involuntary memory amazing. While I haven’t editing for a few years, my body/hands keep trying to do keyboard shortcuts of old. No such luck sister. You actually have to use your mouse, ha. Really, you can’t cut a clip with the X.

All this said, I’m really enjoying my new job and I’m so very happy I made the decision to switch. I’ve learned more about digital in the last two months, can you say uber technical, than I ever did before. I’ve also started working on a full social strategy for my client. This is a big deal and if it works we will be making a huge impact on the success of the product. I’m excited!

Here are some of my happenings this winter via images!

It’s been a long time since I’ve taken any major chances in my life and now I am. I just turned in my resignation at a job I’ve been at for 10 years. Where did the time go? My next adventure starts at Intouch Solutions on March 8th. Wish me luck, I hope to have 10 years here too.

The month of October has been crazy. Crazy busy and crazy good. I was lucky enough to be nominated employee of the month, Marrick was placed in a Hallmark mailer, Quinton is on the air in a Hen House commercial and hanging larger than life in all the stores. Oh and I had my 25th class reunion, wow. I will post pics from that later. Here are some new family photos too.

This next week I will be moving into the client services side of the advertising agency I work for. I will be working directly with the clients as an account executive. This will mean hard conversations, more travel, and a ton of email! I hope it also means I grow as an advertising agency employee. I’ve always loved the interaction with the clients, so I think this will fill a need in me. I’m also really excited to learn the “business” side of the agency. After being on the creative teams for 10 years, I think this is a good time to evolve. It seems every ten years there is a new evolution in my life, I guess this is it for this decade!

I am nervous though. Nervous I will struggle at driving the accounts. Nervous I won’t be able to be “creative” anymore. Nervous I will lose work/life balance because the new job is so demanding. But mostly I’m just excited. Excited to learn something new and grow as a person. Excited to learn even more about our company and industry. Excited to bring my experience and expertise to a new department.

I have to say thanks to PlattForm for all I have learned over the last 10 years. (Has it really been 10 years?) The opportunities I’ve had have been amazing; I could never have learned everything from a text book. And it’s been really great having different positions within the same company. From video editor, to producer/director, to interactive video producer/site manager, to brand strategist … wow, what a great array of on-the-job training! That’s one of the great things about PlattForm, they are open to giving people new opportunities.

So here’s to a new evolution, may it be beneficial to all!

Yes, you did not get an accountability post yet this week, I didn’t want to make everyone jealous! I’ve lost a total of 15 lbs. so far, my body fat has dropped 4.5%, my waist is now measuring 28, and I have to go buy new clothes this weekend … I don’t have a thing to fit me anymore. Woo hoo for me!

Did I just hear the bullshit alarm going off? I running to the basement to take cover.

I first met Jordan when she was 14, her father introduced us after having dated for a while. A short 6 months after, I was her step-mother. Thank you Jordan for never being a brat or a bitchy teen-age girl. You don’t know how much I appreciate never once hearing, your not my mother! During the high-school years things could have been rough, but you were a good kid and only a few times worried the crap out of us. I never found drugs, cigarettes or alcohol on you, so I’m now convinced you are smarter than most! Either you hide rebellion/experimentation well, or you never did those nasty things to begin with. I will choose to believe the second! Thanks for bringing so much laughter and fun into our house while you lived here. It was a true pleasure to call you my daughter.

Over the years you have been trying to find your way and I’m sure you will. You are smart, sweet and talented and just need to figure out what path is right for you. You just turned 21 and have so much to look forward to, stay smart and sweet and trust that good things will happen if you believe in yourself. Thanks for all the great memories, and here’s to many more. It is a true pleasure to call you my daughter! Love you miss Jordan. Mama Bethie

Sissy turns 21 this week. For some reason this is hitting me hard … how can she be 21? HAPPY BIRTHDAY JORDAN, I LOVE YOU. XOXO

We also had the pleasure of watching Isaac (Andrew & Anna Booth’s baby) on Friday night. Marrick loved it and even had to sleep on the floor next to the bed. Isaac was such a sweetie he made me want another baby, thank goodness Quinton has had the surgery!

We spent the day at Deanna Rose, of course it was a lovely day for Mr. Marrick.

Me, 1 more pound. Coming off slow, but I had a rough week with headaches and such. I’m going to test hoodia this week and see if it really works as an appetite suppressant. I’ll let ya’ know if it helps at all.

Are you freakin’ kidding me? 1,200 calories a day, 5 workouts, only 1 “free” meal and I gain a pound. WHAT! Now why does this make me want to eat more instead of less? Guess I have to step it up a notch this week. Dang I hate trying to be fit. AURGH.
